Welcome to the Works series of my electronic world !
None of this music has been professionally recorded but it represents what I was doing in these places and times in my life.
My music is so diverse.. a trait that I have never been able to resist !

Melbourne 1982-1985

I moved from Hobart to Melbourne (sorta like moving from Haiti to Miami !) Welcome to the big smoke !

This is Part 2 of my time in Melbourne. I've labelled this volume as Curios and Momentos as some of it is not as "Strictly Commercial" as Vol 2 which was more "Dancey" but has my interesting, quirky music in spades !

It also includes some of my vocalising. Let it be totally understood...

I HAVE THE WORLDS WORST VOICE !!

But none the less, I would not subject this to you, dear listener, unless I thought there was some merit in the song itself. For instance EGYPT is a humourus ditty about my little studio room... but there are lyrically , personal sort of songs like DON'T FIGHT IT about trying to find my place in the world.
On the song JUST DEFY YOUR LOVE, Chris Doheny from Geisha (EMI Records..and the band I used to play in) did the vocal in one take on this track.
Anyway, they are included here for posterity.

The Gear

This period saw big changes. Firstly I sold the DR55 for a Tr 606 then a Yamaha RX 11. A SCI Drumtraks also makes an appearance.
Sold the Rhodes and the Rs09 and got one of the first DX7's ..this changed my world completely ! I eventually added a Tx7 as well.
I also got a Commodore 64 running SCI Model 64 software sequencer..the first time I had used sequencing..before that everything was hand played.
As the JP8 was in the band truck a lot, I ended up with SCI T8 synth which with the DX's, became my mainstay.
By 1984 the other big revolution occurred..the Mirage Sampler.
This opened a whole new world of sound and songwriting for me.

The Music

Mainly still all instrumental, but with the sequencing and the greatly expanded sound palette, I was able to create with broader brush strokes and flesh out the little musical ditties I wrote.
Everything was still improvised, but the results were way better sounding to me.
It also includes some of my vocalising...but you have been warned (above) already!
Part 3 of Melbourne will be my Ambient side.
